FIRST EDITION 1841 - London - Samuel Bagster 11" by 8" - 167pp plus main text unpaginated aprox 1100pp   DETAILS A scarce and important work with parallel translations of the bible up to the King James. Very sought after. Blind tooled full calf leather binding with gilt titles to spine and marbled for edge.   A scarce first edition of this highly collectible title which contains six important English translations of the New Testament from 1380 through to 1611.  The text is presented in six parallel columns which makes the translations easy to compare.  The original Greek text is at the top and there is a history of each translation at the beginning of the book.   CONDITION The binding is tight and firm and the rear board is firmly attached.  The front board is detached but present.  There is some wear to the extremities including some overall rubbing and bumping to the corners and top and tail of the spine.  There are a couple of marks to the boards and slight scratches in the leather.   Internally the book is generally clean and bright apart from some mild spotting in places.  There si a copperplate inscription to the front blank end paper.  If you want to keep an eye on what is coming up, just add us to your favourites list!
