This rare catalog was used at a Kansas City, Missouri catalog store and, therefore, has a hard cover. This catalog is in very good condition with usual signs of wear. Between the cover and the first page are 2 thick pages which are 4/5 as tall as the regular catalog pages. The first page recognizes Aaron Montgomery Ward as a consumerist, an environmentalist, and as an entrepreneur. The next two pages contain letters or exerts from letters congratulating Montgomery Ward for 100 years. The letter is from President Richard Nixon on The White House stationery. Exerts are from letters by Mrs. Virginia H. Knauer, Assistant to the President on Consumer Affairs, John E. Corbally, Jr., President of the University of Illinois, E. T. Klassen, Postmaster General, and Norman C. Mindrum, Director of the National 4-H Service Committee, Inc. The last of these pages offers mementos with all profits going to scholarship funds for Boy Scouts of America, girl Scouts of the U. S. A., National 4-H Clubs, and Distributive Education Clubs of America. The binding is tight and the pages are clean. This catalog has 1411 pages. This 1972 catalog offered everything you could image including furniture of Spanish influence, wood-grain wallpaper, 10-speed bicycles, clothing, shoes, wigs, pool covers, chain lamps, car parts, dishes, a smoked-glass wardrobe and my favorite, the 3 inch pile “Furtasia” bedspread in black, white, red, blue, orange, and plum!
