Artist Executant: Frieda Harris. Published by the O.T.O. March 21, 1944 at 93 Jermyn Street, London. First and limited edition of 200 copies of which this is #127. Half bound in leather and decorative paper, this volume is in fine condition with some slight blemish to spine and the corners show negligible rubbing. The internals are truly excellent in near mint condition with all plates and accoutrements. Top edge is gilt and other edges are semi-deckled. Front and rear panels in the Egyptian motif are grand and uncharacteristically smooth and clean. A very fine volume of this classic collectible and one of the best copies still in existence. Especially magnificent are the eight coloured tipped in plates and the black and white lithographic plates of each card of the Thoth Tarot. Elegantly signed and numbered by Crowley with fountain pen. Of particular interest is that Crowley has signed with his stylistic and flamboyant signature. Apparently, there were others that were penned with a more cryptic Therion/666 offering. This volume was previously in the possession of Dr. Charles A. Muses, researcher, writer and lecturer. He is best known for his works, Illuminations on Jacob Boehme, Thirteen Tibetan Tankas and Esoteric Teachings of the Tibetan Tantras. Perhaps, of even greater fascination is the system of Musean Number that he erected as a way to quantify a theoretical and tangential extension of complex and hypercomplex numbers. Muses also proposed an astrological method called 'Chronotopology' to measure the qualitative multidimensional structure of space and time. Presently there is a bookseller in the United Kingdom also offering a signed copy of "The Book of Thoth" for over $15,000!! Recently there have been some facsimile editions that have been created from a small cache of previously unsigned and unbound pages commanding in excess of $3000! By all accounts this book was a spectacular accomplishment for Crowley, perhaps the last Great Work of his lifetime, requiring five long years for Lady Harris to complete the artwork, taking direction only from correspondence and Crowley's sketches. This is an exceedingly rare opportunity to acquire the ultimate in Crowleyana, and surely the most treasured edition that Crowley ever created.
