First Edition / Very Early Printing, Twenty-Fourth Thousand. The first printing of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is virtually unobtainable. This 24th thousand printing is the earliest example we have handled and matches the first printing of Through the Looking Glass below. Maroon cloth with gilt decorations. Alice holding a pig to front and the cheshire cat to the rear panel. All edges gilt. Very Rare, very early printing of Lewis Carroll's masterpiece. Book Condition: Very Good, sharp boards and spine, light fraying to head and foot of the spine, professionally rebound using very early boards (matching Through the Looking Glass), front endpaper replaced to match rear, professionally restored and preserved, small crease to front gutter at endpaper (some white showing), previous owner's stamp to half title page, soiling to pages, some foxing, 192 pages plus advertisement at rear, paper left over from previous owner's bookplate to rear endpaper, boards used were only slightly larger (small gap at bottom edge from difference --not noticeable unless you're looking for it).
