Dissapointingly what they found was that when the Spainards came to America they destroyed all of the written native records of peoples that was a history of that land. After this the only records of Ancient American history would be the carved or painted inscriptions on stone or wood. Unfortunately these could not be read and it seemed that an old language was now lost. Fortunately just after the destruction of all records there were older men who remembered the contents of the destroyed records. One of these individuals was IXTLILXOCHITL who from memory wrote the history of Ancient America as best he could remember using whatever materials he could find to write with. This history has been presereved, but has been overlooked for many, many years. Just recently as the authors began their intense search for any written record they came upon this record and realized the incredible value of it. The authors of this book had the book that was written by Ixlilxochitl translated into modern english and then studied the book in detail cross referencing information from the Book of Mormon. Here in this volume for the first time is this translated book in the English Language. The authors have skillfully taken qoutations from both works and paralled them so that the reader could learn and see the striking similarities between the two histories. Not only are the comparisons of the two books given here, but the authors have skillfully added much historical and doctrinal information to clarify the comparisons and to help the reader in his or her search for the Truth. This book had a great deal of acceptance and backing from the leaders of the Church. Milton R. Hunter was a General Authority and he was given a great deal of help and sugesstions in the final manuscript from leaders of the church; including several members from the Qourum of the Twelve Apostles, such as Dr. John A. Widstoe and Elder Ezra Taft Benson. He also recieve assistance from other, such as President Levi Edgar Young and President Antoine R. Ivins of the First Council of the Seventy - who were very helpful with suggestions and in giving statements of endorsement for the book. Other individuals that Elder Hunter mentions as being a part in the final overall production are: President Bruce R. McConkie, Dr. Hugh Nibely, Elrich B. Davis, Dr. Arnulfo Rodriques, Dr. Wells Jakeman, Jack Fitzpatrick and many, many other prominent leaders or LDS scholars.
