Description
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is a collection of supplies and reference books I used when I did bookbinding in the 70’s. The supplies are made to last and have been carefully stored anyway. The books are in very good to good condition with the exception of the Clapp volume which has a stained cover. Supplies: Linen Bookbinding thread: 3 spools. The spool with the most thread on it and the one with the least are thin thread for bookcase sized books. The medium sized one is more heavy duty and would be used for Bibles or large volumes. Linen Tape: 1 roll of 5/8 inch wide tape, 2 inches in diameter to be used for case binding 1 ball linen cord for binding books with sewn in boards A lump of bee’s wax 1 skiving knife made by Rougeier Plé, Paris. The knife is 7 ¼ inches long, and the blade is 1 ¾ inches wide. 1 bone folder 8 inches long, ¾ inches wide 1 short ‘agate’ folder, probably glass since it is blue, 5 ½ inches long, 1 inch wide 1 long bone letter opener, also useful for pressing down sewn signatures, 12 inches long, 1 inch wide 1 scrap (about 5 X 8) of good Japanese rice paper for mending Books: ‘Curatorial Care of Works of Art on Paper’ by Clapp, Anne F. 1974, paperback ‘Conservation of Library Materials’, 2 volumes by George Cunha, 1971, hardcover ‘Papermaking in America’ by Norman B. Wilkinson, 1975, 2 copies paperback ‘Permanence / Durability of the Book’ by W. J. Barrow Research Program 1963, 7 volumes paperback
