Athletics Sportsgraph Harold Abrahams Signed 1st' Description DETAILS OF BOOK   Book Title.  Athletics Sportsgraph Author/Editor.  Harold Abrahams Publisher.  Young World Productions Publishing Date.  1972 Edition.  1st Hard Cover/Soft Cover.  Hard with d/j Pages.  92 Condition.  Book itself in good condition with only expected general wear/discolouring for age, slightest of wear to spine with a little rubbing to main title page but does not affect signature.  A few light bumps/indents to edges of covers, with a few small scuffs to back.  D/j can only be described as fair as now worn/discoloured/indented with some colour loss and small tears/scuffs/creasing/chips along edges, two horizontal scratches to back with a few puncture tears and missing pieces.  A little heavier scuffing/tears to bottom/top of spine with peeling to veneer and some light water staining to bottom edges and back of d/j.  Price clipped.  Nicely presented in a protective cover. Description of Contents.  Harold Abrahams is one of the best-known figures in British athletics. This book features the very scarce signature of Harold Abrahams on main title page next to a photograph of himself at the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Jamaica with Jesse Owens – signature only with no inscription.  The book represents the harvest of a lifetime of the Harold’s knowledge of the athletics scene.  It is both a history of the modern Olympic Games and a wide-ranging survey of British, Commonwealth and European athletics.  There are 37 individual sections devoted to the various men’s and women’s track and field events, with introductory sections on each main group of events.  The book ends with a section of principal records and record-breakers in the World, Olympic, European, Commonwealth and United Kingdom classes (up until time of publication).A fascinating feature of this book is that a Sportgraph is included for each event, which plot the rise in Olympic performances since the modern games began.  Space has allowed in each case for the reader to bring the Sportgraphs up to date.  Very scarce signature.
