EXTREMELY RARE!!!KICKING BIRD (ca. 1835-1875) also known as "Tene-Angopte, Striking Eagle, Kiowa Chief of mixed Crow & Kiowa ancestry, was best known as a proponent of peace and accommodation with white. Kicking Bird's close relationship with white men made enemies among his own people. At the same time, the ranks of such War Chiefs as Satanta & Lone Wolf swelled as Hostile Kiowas continued raiding settlements in Texas.Capt. Carter went out after Kicking Bird in Texas in 1871, when Satanta was captured after the Salt Creek Massacre.In 1872 Kicking Bird and some of his Sub-Chiefs stayed at Fort Sill.
