THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.   Franklin Library, Great Books of the Western World History of the Franklin Library: Producers of various collectibles and limited editions, the Franklin Mint created a book division in 1973, known as the Franklin Library. During its 27-year history, the Library issued several collections of books including the 100 Greatest Books of All Time, The 100 Greatest Masterpieces of American Literature, The Collected Stories of the World's Greatest Writers, the Signed First Edition Society, and more. The Franklin Mint Library books are now out of print. During its existence, the Library issued books monthly to its subscribers. Bindings of the Franklin Library: Franklin Library issued its volumes in three different bindings: quarter-bound leather, imitation leather, and full leather—the best quality. The latter were produced throughout the existence of the Library, but the others were only issued during the first two decades. With raised spines and gilt bindings, the books were designed with beauty and quality old-style appearance in mind. Pages were sewn in, not glued, for higher quality. Some books were issued with decorative endpapers, others with silk endpapers. The full-leather editions were also given 22k gilt lettering and stamping, and a silk bookmark. This 25th Anniversary collection is known as the Great Books of the Western World. This collection was created to gather the books which were considered a foundation for Western Society's thought, all into one collection. This collection was originally gathered and published by Encyclopedia Britannica and the University of Chicago.
