There is no original DJ. The book's corners and edges are a bit rough with some curling to corners and top and bottom of the spine. A small crease is at the top of the spine but please note that this is NOT a tear. The back hinge is starting to weaken with a break in the paper covering (see photo). However, the book is still well bound and the front hinge is holding well. An exceptionally clean and bright copy with no owner's marks or spots, highly unusual in this condition. Description: The book has been signed by Margaret Mitchell on the endpaper in black fountain pen. There is just a bit of smudging below the final "t" in her name, as was common with fountain pens of the time.  The book has been in the same family since the original signing event.
