Second printing with numberline 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2. Original Bloomsbury first edition, not any other varient. This is the real deal. The ISBN number is 0747532699. The first two printings of this book were not issued with a dustwrapper, the book is in very good condition. There is bumping to the bottom two corners of the boards and a small amount of pushing to the top and bottom of the spine. There are small abraisions to the corners and top and bottom of the spine and corners. There is also tanning to the page edges and a previous owners name to the front endpaper. This book is NOT ex-library. There are no folded pages and apart from the previous owners name, there is no writing in the book. A very nice example of a very rare and sought after book! It has all the early issue points: Copyright Joanne Rowling on the copyright page. No Hogwarts coat of arms on the title and pre-title page. Printing error "Thomas Taylor1997" - no gap between Taylor and 1997. Blurb on the book says that Harry is rescued by an owl instead of a beetle-eyed giant of a man. Has the brown bearded wizzard on spine and back of book. Has the Wendy Cooling quote on the bottom of the front cover (unique to the first two printings of the hardcover.) Has no dustwrapper, so all the information that appears on the inside flaps on later impressions appears on the back of the boards (Price & publicity blurb.) This is also unique to the first two printings!  Has error on page 8: "highchair" instead of "high chair". In summary, this is probably one of the most sought after titles in modern childrens literature. The first and second printings are identical in every way exept for the number 1 in the numberline: They both were issued without duswrappers and had all the same errors and layout inside and outside the book. Changes were made to the book from the 3rd printing onward as in November 1997 it won the Smarties Prize and the Wendy Cooling quote on the cover was changed to reflect this. Also from the 3rd printing onward a dustwrapper was added and the price and publicity blurb that was present on the rear of the book was moved to the inside flaps of the duswrapper. Even the layout of the copyright page was altered from the 3rd printing with all the copright information being shifted from the top of the page to the bottom. So this 2nd printing is the closest thing that you will get to owning such a rare piece of collectable modern literature without having to spend £15-20,000.
