First printing. 78pages. Illustrated with 51 black and white photogravures of Manhattan streetscapes by Levitt - Harlem, Yorkville and the Lower East Side. Black cloth with white lettering, colored end papers, original dust jacket. Oblong octavo, 7 3/4" x 9 1/4." Mild ex-office copy. "Department of Education" rubber stamp on front and rear fly leaf, "duplicate" written over front stamp. Small, blank pocket neatly glued to rear pastedown. No other markings. Book is exceptionally clean, straight, and tight with NO signs of wear. White lettering is brilliant and sharp, cloth and pages clean, no smudges or marks. Minor bump curl to tips of front cover. Minute rubbing spot to lower tip. DJ is Very Good, NOT price clipped (price of $6.50) with mild fraying at crown/ heel, slight edge curl, very light foxing spots on interior side with two areas of sweating stain at the interior front panel edge fold, some of which extends to, and visible on the inside front panel. Overall, book is very near fine in Very Good dust jacket. Rare.
