(This means on the page, not on a bookplate).     This is a copy of the hardback First Edition (First Printing) with the full number string including 1 published by Jonathan Cape, London in 2001.   A fine (obviously unread) copy complete with its fine unclipped dustwrapper.   Together with this book come: a) A book issued in 2007 (in oblong 8vo. size) to commemorate the film. This has 48 pages crammed with pictures from the film, quotes from some members of the (enormous) crew and a Foreword from the director Joe Wright. b) A stand up photograph frame made of cloth which includes reduced reproductions of promotional posters of the two main characters. (Scans of both below). I do not believe that either of the above items was for sale and I suspect that both are extremely hard to come by.    This novel won numerous literary awards: the Commonwealth Prize in 2002, the Smith Literary prize in 2002, the National Book Critics' Circle Fiction Award in 2003, the Los Angeles Times Prize for Fiction in 2003 and the Santiago Prize for the European Novel in 2004. Although this novel was hotly tipped to win the Man Booker Prize it eluded McEwan on this occasion, though he had won before with Amsterdam.
