A small rectangle of light paper stock neatly & authentically SIGNED by Joyce in black fountain pen pasted to the front free endpaper. Beige cloth covered beveled boards lettered in black & red. Dark mauve topstain. Spine is mildly darkened. The "Ulysses" in red on the spine has bled a bit into the background; the lettering on the upper cover is more crisp. Front fly leaf expertly strengthened, interior is beautifully cream colored & without foxing; the text block without blemish or markings. Stated First American Edition on the copyright page. The original first issue correctly priced dustwrapper [$3.50] is in very good condition; a bit soiled, a small chip at the spine crown nicely restored, a few small closed tears, clear tape reinforcement on the verso at the crown & heel & corners; First Issue with the designer's name "REICHL" present at the lower front panel edge as called for. 8vo., 768pp. Custom TBCL clamshell case in fine condition.
