In fact, it was a collective name derived from the combined names of three caricaturists (Mikhail Kupriyanov, Porfiri Krylov, and Nikolai Sokolov) who had met in VKhUTEMAS, a Moscow art school, in the early 1920s. They started drawing caricatures under the joint signature since 1924. They became nationally famous in the 1930s after the rise of fascism, drawing for Krokodil, the Moscow satirical paper. Cartoons and caricatures in this huge edition are shows the famous Russian and International art peoples: Gladkov, Stanislavskiy, Favorskiy, Lunacharskiy, Gorkiy, Tolstoy, Sholokhov, Deyneka, Kataev, Plisetskaya, Marshak, Shostakovich, Prishvin, Pasternak, Raykin, Pikasso, Repin, Dali, Goya, Van Gogh, Rubens, and much more, 166 large reproductions in total + also a number of illustrations among the text.
