Published by Charles Scribner's Sons (New York) in 1952. First edition, first printing. This copy SIGNED and inscribed by the author to the front endpaper "(A MERE 37 YEARS LATER) MEMORIAL DAY 1989" Boards are ligthly bumped to the top corners. There is some discolouration and rubbing to the foot of both the upper and lower board, being more pronounced on the lower board (see photos). Clearly the result of some liquid damage which, thankfully, has not affected the pages. The edge surface cloth in the area of discolouration is rubbed and scuffed and on the lower board the card edge is exposed for about 3cm. Binding is square and tight. Internally the pages are clean and in excellent condition throughout Dust jacket is not clipped showing original price of $3.00. There are small areas of discolouration which echo the discolouration to the boards. There is a small area of chipping to the lower panel near to the bottom corner. A couple of patches of light scuffing to the upper panel near the top. A few light marks. The spine is only very slightly faded. The jacket on this book usually fades quite considerably whereas this copy has kept its colour remarkably well. The least faded we have seen anywhere. The jacket is now protected in a removable plastic sleeve (not shown in the photos). Vonnegut's first ever book, boldly SIGNED with a lovely inscription. Scarce.
