As you can see, this edition of "La Nuit Et Le Moment", which translates to "Moment Of The Night", is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. This erotic book was written (in French) by Claude Prosper Jolyot de Crebillon and contains 25 original color etchings by Louis Icart. The edition size was limited to 525 with this one having been numbered 380. The paper used for this particular edition is Johannot a la forme, and the plate dimensions for the individual etchings are 5 1/4" X 7 1/2", with the overall sheet size of the etchings being 9 1/4" X 11 1/2". Artist's Books that were illustrated by Louis Icart normally don't look like much from the outside, but once you open them up, they're very impressive. Normally you would find Artist's Books to be cannibalized and sold for the individual etchings that often sell at auction for upwards of $1000 apiece, but to find one of these books intact is a rare find indeed, and if you were to price out the 25 etchings at say $500 apiece, you'd be looking at a total book value of $12,500. At $1000 apiece.... you're looking at a book value of $25,000. The fact is, I personally don't pull the etchings out of books, so my loss is your gain if that is something you're interested in doing.
