Description
E N T H U S I A S T ART BOOKS & FINE ART We purchase Artist Estates as well as art libraries and our goal is to provide, through eBay, a constantly replenished veritable "candystore" of rare and out-of-print books, catalogs and fine art for the lover of American & European prints and paintings... The item you are bidding on is: The Life and Works of Thomas Cole, by Noble, Louis Legrand; Vesell, Elliot S. (ed.) , Belknap Press / Harvard, Cambridge, MA, 1964. Hard Cover with Dust Jacket . FINE condition in VG DJ. First printing. Cloth, 333 pages. with general index, index of oil painting works mentioned in the text and section of 24 black and white plates. Important and uncommon work on artist Thomas Cole, recognized as the father of the Hudson River School of landscape painting. This volume, first published in 1853 and quite scarce in the original, is a collection of his writings (including his poetry and essyas and descriptions) presented as a biography, with narrative and commentary by his intimate friend Louis Noble. In this edition, Elliot Vesell provides a sketch of Cole's life, an interpretation of his work and a discussion of the Hudson River School of artists. This is one of several Cole books, monograph and exhibition catalogs we are listing on EBay--check our eBay store for some that are exclusively offered there..... ********** See below for our COMBINED SHIPPING DISCOUNTS!
