Extremely rare!! 12 volume complete set the novels of jane austen color illusrtated by brock Illustrated Cabinet Edition Published by Dana Estes & Comapany Here’s an extraordinarily rare 12 Volume antiquarian complete set of The Novels of Jane Austen that would be a great addition to a collection!    You are bidding on an extremely rare antiquarian set of hardcover books. The set is called The Works of Jane Austen. The set is complete and contains all twelve volumes. On title page is publishing info: published by Dana Estes & Company. This is the exceedingly rare set called the Illustrated Cabinet Edition. There is no publishing date, but these wonderful books date from 1907. The books are beautifully illustrated in full color by C L Brock and H M Brock. There are not just frontispiece illustrations; there are full color illustrations throughout each book. All illustrations are protected by a tissue guard. This is a feature that is generally senn in finer books.     This beautiful set has blue cloth boards with titles on spines on paste-down. Each volume has a beautifully illustrated frontispiece with a protective tissue guard as well as additional gorgeous full color illustrations. The illustrations are so well done and are so pleasing to the eye with the use of bright pastel colors. Antiquarian volumes with color illustrations are highly collectible and sought after. All pages extremely clean, tightly bound and pages have gilt top edge. There is no foxinf at all in these collectible books. Other page ends have nice uncut edges. Title pages are multi-color and quite elegant. It is evident these books have been well cared for over the years.    The titles in set are: Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, Lady Susan/The Watsons/Letters of Jane Austen.    It is very difficult to find a complete set like this and in such good condition. These books are in very nice condition. There is no writing in the books at all and no signs of previous ownership. Covers all intact and very securely attached. Spines show slight sun fading. With the exception of some random spotting to some of the boards, these books are in very good plus condition.   This set is very scarce and quite valuable. The publisher, Dana Estes & Company is an extremely scarce published that printed very few sets. After performing an extensive search, I was able to find only two sets from this publisher. The first set is selling for $7,000 and the second is selling for $7,655. This would make a fantastic addition to any collection!
