ILLUSTRATED LDS MORMON BOOK ENSIGN TO THE NATIONS A History of the LDS Church from 1846 to 1972 "This volume brings together a remarkable selection of the most interesting material ever published on the History of the LDS Church from 1846 to 1972" ********* "ENSIGN TO THE NATIONS is a descriptive history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the Westward migration of the Mormon people in 1846 and the settlement of the Rocky Mountain to the present-day development (1972) and worldwide growth of the Church. An account of the early history of the LDS Church from 1820 to 1846 may be found in Ivan J. Barrett's JOSEPH SMITH AND THE RESTORATION, also published by Brigham Young University Press". This Speical Volume is Packed with Many RARE NEVER BEFORE PUBLISHED Photographs, Portraits, Maps, Charts, Illustrations, Drawings, Satelite Photos and much, much more.... Up for bid is a fascinating, but SCARCE book entitled "ENSIGN TO THE NATIONS" , written by Russel R. Rich and published by Brigham Young University in 1972. This book is now over 34 years old and was written as a text for BYU's Religious Department in the early 1970's; as such there was not a large print distribution. At first this book was printed as a large paperback, over 670 pages. One of the main uses of this book for some time was as a religious textbook for various BYU religion classes. Two years later in 1974 the book was re-printed in HARDBACK format. This was a major step for all those who desired to own a copy that would last for the many years to come. Few of the paperback editions have survived in a reasonably good condition. There are a few, but they are far and wide between. But now with this new hardbound edition, LDS book collectors could purchase this very popular book that is filled with more information and History about the Church from 1846 to 1972 then any other volume that has ever been written and produced. The information within this book is vital for every Latter-day Saint and their family to know their history and heritage. Unfortunately, this book has also become increasing EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FIND because when it was printed, the print run was based on the church population at that time and figuring in that only certain families would hear about it inorder to purchase one. Now the church population is huge and most of the individuals who own their book are keeping it and are not interested in selling it to anyone. But nonetheless, every once in a while the individual who looks for books for me will come across one - just like this. Book is a Hardcover book and like the other book is over 670 pages long. This book is in EXCELLENT CONDITION! and has been taken extremely good care of - binding is tight and pages are crisp, clean and secured. Book is free of any rips, tears, marks, writings, etc. The only writing is what you normally see, a name and short gift paragraph on the insided front cover.Ensign to the Nations is a descriptive history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from the Westward migration of the Mormon people in 1846 and the settlement of the Rocky Mountains to its development and growth as a world wide church in 1972. Throughout this descriptive history is found numerous Illustration; 66 in all (photos, illsutrations, maps, letters, charts, etc.).
