It is a limited edition, #271 of only 2000 copies ever produced. This book is not only signed by Ronald Reagan, but also has an inscription declaring his love for his first lady, Mrs. Nancy Reagan. Please note, although we have tried to document this passage regarding Nancy, it does not LOOK like it was made a permanent part of the book by printing of President Reagan's handwriting. It appears to be actually handwritten by him. Since we are uncertain, please note, and to be safe, let's assume it is a publisher printed part of the book (although I do not think so). The book is titled, "An American Life". It was distributed by Easton Press, in conjunction with Simon & Schuster, in 1990. It comes displayed and protected in a beautiful natural oak presentation case with the Presidential Seal on top. The case is lined with a rich velvet material. Inside the case, in a bottom drawer, there are 6 famous speeches by Reagan. The book is bound in leather (front and back) and has 22k gold trim pages, as well as acid neutral paper that also helps protect against dust. It is my understanding that this set was originally only given as a gift to people who donated at least $50,000 or more to the Reagan Presidential Library. The first 2,000 of contributors of this sum were given one of these sets.Please note, two pages near the front of the book have an ever so slighted corner crease. This was done while handling and is so very minor but disclosed and pictured for the sake of accuracy. AND THERE'S MORE.... For the true collector, also included is the original box that was used to ship original owner. In addition, the original styrofoam is included. This may not be as important, but the styrofoam also has paper, sticker like, Presidential Seal on both ends to help hold together. Also, the styrofoam has "Ronald Reagan" embossed in it with several stars going around it.
