We THINK this is first and only edition (we do not read Japanese ). Beautiful very large oversized softbound book in dustwrapper. A monograph on the theater set design and art of designer Asakura Setsu. This copy has been beautifully SIGNED (boldly in large Japanese characters written in gold) by the artist and quite unusual thus. Signed by Author/artist. Text is in Japanese, full color throughout, 12 page english text translation from publisher is loosely laid in. Born in Tokyo, Setsu Asakura studied Japanese painting and has been awarded with the Uemura Shoen Prize in 1953. She left for the U.S.A. in 1970 in order to study stage design. She starts her career in the performing arts with various styles, from experimental to traditional styles like opera. Setsu Asakura won at the Theatoro Acting Award in 1980, Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Art Festival in 1986, Asahi Prize in 1988, Kinokuniya Theater Acting Award in 1991 and the Yomiuri Theater Acting Award in 1995. ********** See below for our COMBINED SHIPPING DISCOUNTS!
