Description
STEPHEN KING—THE STAND, COMPLETE/UNCUT—SIGNED 1st!! This is a first trade hardcover copy of Stephen King’s first opus, what he personally described as a "little chest of wonders." First published in 1978, the original manuscript was cut by approximately 100,000 words for the sake of the bottom line (i.e., to keep the book profitable at its sale price). As a consequence, some pertinent actions and characters were truncated or even eliminated to meet the necessary constraints. King’s subsequent burgeoning success enabled him to re-publish the book in 1990, with almost all the original material reinstated. By his own admission, some of the manuscript remained on the cutting room floor, where it belonged, but the newer version contains all of the material previously deleted. Re-published in May 1990 with cover art and numerous interior illustrations by Berni Wrightson, this book still stands (pardon the pun) as perhaps King’s best single-volume story, rich with multi-layered plots and characters. The book is Near fine/Near fine; the binding still crackles when opened, page block is square, white, and unblemished. The dustjacket is as fresh as the day it came from the shipping carton, and has been protected by a super-clear mylar sleeve. The book is briefly INSCRIBED, SIGNED. and DATED on the front free endpaper in black ink. It reads "For Kerri – With best wishes, Stephen King 5/3/90." The original owner has also written her name and the date of the book’s purchase at the top of the second free endpaper in red ink. This is an outstanding opportunity to own one of the best books ever written by Stephen King, one of the 20th century’s most phenomenal writers. Signatures are increasingly difficult to obtain, and his appearances are far more infrequent than in the past. Don’t miss your big chance! Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
