Description
THE COLORADO KID by Stephen King, illustrated by Glen Chadbourne, intro by Charles Ardai, afterwood by Stephen King. Hornsea, East Yorkshire, UK; PS Publishing; 2007. 1st edition hardcover of a paperback original published in 2005 by Hard Case Crime Books. Synopsis: On an island off the coast of Maine, a man is found dead. There's no identification on the body. Only the dogged work of a pair of local newspapermen and a graduate student in forensics turns up any clues, and it's more than a year before the man is identified. But that's just the beginning of the mystery, because the more they learn about the man and the baffling circumstances of his death, the less they understand. Was it an impossible crime...or something even stranger? In its first appearance (as a mass market paperback under the Hard Case Crime imprint), this rivetting story about the darkness at the heart of the unknown — and our compulsion to investigate the unexplained — split fans and critics alike... seemingly frustrating as many as it delighted. One thing is certain: there is no middle ground with The Colorado Kid. As the author says in his Afterword, "We always want to reach for the lights in the sky, and we always want to know where the Colorado Kid (the world is full of Colorado Kids) came from. Wanting may be better than knowing. I don't say that for sure; I only suggest it." Traycased limited edition. Fine smooth burgundy leather boards stamped in gold with gold gilded edges. Housed in publisher's beautiful burgundy leather traycase stamped in gold and an illustrated plate by Glenn Chadbourne affixed on the front panel. Traycase lined in suede. The most limited edition from PS publishing of this title. Limited to 33 copies. This copy being the PS Publishing File Copy. Probably reserved for one of the book's contributers, but sold due to the high pre-published demand of this edition. Signed on a special limitation page by: Stephen King, Charles Ardai, J.K. Potter, Edward Miller, and Glenn Chadbourne. The Chadbourne art is laid into the book as in all the other editions. Additionally the Potter & Miller art plates are bound into the back of the book so with this edition you all the art by the 3 different artists. Needless to say this was OUT OF PRINT FOR MONTHS PRIOR TO PUBLICATION. Fine in fine dj & blue slipcase. Buyer pays $20 shipping/insurance. Overseas rates figured individually. Overseas customers please note, this will ONLY be shipped by an insured/fully trackable method. Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
