Recently and superbly rebound by the Cottage Bindery in Bath in full red morroco. With gilt borders to the covers and a full gilt spine, top edge gilt. All housed in a matching slip case. It might be that there is just a touch of sun-fading to the spines of each volume but if so it really is marginal. Each volume has new endpapers and all the maps are present and in excellent condition. Some of the pages in each volume show evidence of having had the corners turned down on them and there are some faint old marks to some of the pages in each of the volumes (the worst being on page 253 of The Fellowship of the Ring - see pic 7). In the Fellowship there is a light production crease to a hundred or so pages at the start of the book (see pic 6). In the Two Towers there is a red mark to the margin of pages 88, 89, 90 and 234 which looks like it might have come from the staining of the original book edges (see pic 8) . In The Return of the King there is a short (one inch / two and a half centimetre) marginal tear to page 311 which does not affect any of the text (see pic 9). Overall this a very attractive set.
