Description
This is the 1766 printing, for Henry Webley, near Chancery Lane, London, of The Chimney-Piecemaker's Daily Assistant, or, A Treasury of New Designs for Chimney Pieces: Beginning with the most plain and simple, and gradually ascending to the most Grand and Magnificent, in the Antique, Modern, Ornamental and Gothic Taste; proper to be executed in Halls, Salones, Drawing Rooms, Vestibules, Anti Rooms, Guard Rooms, Music Rooms, State Rooms, Cabinets, Parlours, Bed Rooms, Dining Rooms, Dressing Rooms, etc., together with A Table shewing the just Proportions they bear to the above several and respective Rooms., with fifty-four Copper-Plate engravings, from the Original Drawings of Thomas Milton, John Crunden, and Placido Columbani, Architects. The only writing is the scripted name of a Henry Edmead, toward the top of the title page. I've found references to a few Henry Edmeads, who lived from the early through the middle 1700s.This copy has been recovered, with textured brown leather and gilt lettering. There are several surface scuffs and light stains, but the cover is clean overall, with minor edge wear. The gilt is as new. A notation at the base of the spine states v. 1. The inside cover spreads are marbled gloss, with taping at the gutter. These spreads have no stamps or writing. The only tear is to the lower outside corner of the right hand page in the opening spread. There is slight creasing to the back spread. There is no frontispiece illustration. The 54 illustrations and table noted in the title page are present and in good condition - clean and unfaded, included the fold-out. There is sunning toward the page borders, and a number of pages have stains, but none of these are to the live areas of the illustrations. There is some wear to the outside edges. One page has a tear, about an inch, from the top edge. The binding is tight, with no loose pages. The following photos show the range of conditions.TERMS OF PAYMENTUS bidders Next day insured UPS shipping is included in the selling price.International BiddersInternational bidders should note there will be an charge of $75.00 for UPS worldwide express shipping, insured. If you're interested in collectable books, please browse the timelytales ebay store , on which many first, limited, signed, and other interesting editions are listed.
