Portfolio with an introductory note by Mrs Alice Meynell (1903, London William Heinemann, New York Charles Scribner's Sons). Please note this is the limited edition portfolio that Sargent released in 1903. Though parts of it were reproduced in the later book printing, this is the full edition. DETAILS: Limited to 100 copies. Oversized portfolio measuring 18" x 14". Hard covered case.  Contains  53 plates in photogravure on Japanese paper. Each portfolio plate comes inside an indiviual cut-out protective sleve. Each sleeve measures 17" x 13" with the art plate centered on the inside. Considered to be amongst the most import works of Sargent. CONDITION: Portfolio plates are in Near Fine condition. Minor foxing to sleeves but this does not effect the art plates. Plates are clean with sharp print. Hard cover portfolio wrap has minor wear. Overall an exceptionally clean portfolio collection of a title that rarely appears in high grade.
