Happy bidding, happy reading! An excellent edition of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's Rime of the Ancient Mariner, limited edition of 525 copies only, signed by the superb illustrator Willy Pogany. Superbly and imaginatively illustrated by Willy Pogany. Publisher: George C. Harrap & Co., London, no date but circa 1910, first edition thus. Also limited edition of 525 copies, signed and numbered by Willy Pogany on the limitation age. Fine binding of soft suede, extensively gilt stamped cover and spine. Absolutely profusely illustrated and decorated, each and every page complimented by either a fantastic duotone drawing, a vignette, a decorative letter or chapter heading or a tipped-in chromolithographic quality plate opposite. Decorated title. Decorated end papers. A lavish production, very beautiful book and a wonderful read when accompanied by such a wealth of marvellous artwork, a true pleasure to peruse again and again. A most impressive presentation of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Top edge gilt, others uncut. Original yellow silk bookmark present. Oversized quarto about 32.5cm height. Book condition: Externally, minor shelf wear and scuffing, slight shelf wear and rubbing on the extremities of binding and head and foot of spine. A lovely and presentable copy. Internally, excellent. Small original bookseller's ticket on front pastedown. Endpapers slightly dusty, slightly browned, with a small amount of spotting or transferring from the covers, as is typical. A few occasional slight small spots to exposed paper edges and margins, truly minute and noted for the sake of accuracy. Yellow silk bookmark slightly soiled. No other issues noted, no bookplates or inscriptions, a clean, tight, bright, lovely and gift-worthy copy of a very beautiful and special book. Good luck and enjoy your win!
