Description
INCREDIBLE COPY of "Where the Red Fern Grows" by Wilson Rawls 1st edition published by Bloomsbury - EXTREMELY RARE! I know everyone says so but this book is exceptionally hard to find as a hard cover 1st edition in this condition. You would never know it was almost 50 years old! The binding is tight with no defects and the dust jacket has only the tiniest tear on the back at the top of the right side. As I said it is in near perfect condition. The book as been appraised by a Used book collector approximately 2 months ago and said $500 is more than a fair price, it would probably resell for more. This was an object that I searched years for...I HAVE to sell it sadily. Please bid on this and let me know if you have any questions. "More than anything else in life, Billy Coleman wanted a dog. When at the age of ten he saw an ad for two coon-hound pups, he resolved to earn their purchase price of $50.00. Two years later, having scrimped and saved, he attained his goal - the dogs were his, and he named them Old Dan and Little Anne. Billy spent weeks training his dogs to hunt their ring-tailed quarry. Night after night the three of them romped through the dark hills and river bottoms of the Cherokee country. Old Dan had the brawn, Little Anne had the brains, and their reputation as a remarkable hunting team spread gradually through the valley. When the big moment came, Billy and his dogs were ready for it. Upsetting the champions, they won the coveted gold cup in the annual coon-hunt contest. But excitement and victory were short-lived, and tragedy awaited the pups. Wilson Rawls has written a tender but convincing story that will warm the hearts of dog lovers of any age."
